On February 23, the President of the RA National Assembly Ara Babloyan awarded the President of the National Assembly of Artsakh Republic Ashot Ghoulyan the RA NA Medal of Honour.

Congratulating Ashot Ghoulyan on the occasion of awarding, Ara Babloyan noted: “Distinguished Mr Ghoulyan, dear colleagues, recently we saw the 30th anniversary of Artsakh movement, and today the Motherland Defender's Day is marked in Artsakh.

Let me congratulate everybody on the occasion of these holidays.

Artsakh movement was historical and crucial in our people's life. The two Armenian states are the birth of that movement.

Dear Mr Ghoulyan, you as a statesman and politician, and the National Assembly of Artsakh led you have weighty contribution to the establishment and strengthening of the independent statehood of Artsakh.

Let me hand over the RA NA Medal of Honour on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Artsakh movement, as well as for the significant contribution to the strengthening of the inter-parliamentary friendly ties.

I am sure that from now on you will continue to use your experience and knowledge for the prosperity and strengthening of Artsakh.”

Thanking the President of the RA National Assembly Ara Babloyan for the awarding, the President of the National Assembly of Artsakh Republic Ashot Ghoulyan noted in his word: “Distinguished RA NA President, dear colleagues, I and very touched by pleasant feelings on the occasion of being awarded the RA NA Medal of Honour. I accept this award as an expression of high level cooperation, also an important sign of the development of our relations in the future.

It is a great honour for me to be worth the highest award of the RA Parliament. I think it is very symbolic that the awarding takes place during these days, when we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the important event for our people. These events show that in case of the national unity what opportunities we have and what goals we can put before us and implement them.

I also express my gratitude to the previous NA Presidents and the deputies, who during more than ten years of my parliamentary activities helped us our relationship to be implemented. Today, we can enhance the relations between the parliaments of the two Armenian republics with our human and professional ideas. This is a good opportunity that we can observe the relations of the two parliaments from another viewpoint. Thank you. ”
