On July 20, the Parliamentary Working Group created for RA Electoral Legislation Reforms debated recommendations on electoral system which moderated the Member of the RA NA Yelq/Way out Faction

Naira Zohrabyan, the representative of the RPA Faction Davit Harutyunyan, the representative of the ARF Faction Armen Rustamyan, and the representative of the Yelq/Way Out Faction Edmon Marukyan presented their opinions on the recommendations.

The RA NA Factions presented the electoral systems more acceptable for them.

The Member of the RA NA Tsarukyan Faction Naira Zohrabyan has noted that they are ready to debate other models too.

The RPA Faction proposed to debate 4 models.

The Head of the ARF Faction Armen Rustamyan is ready for voting through open proportional lists: this model functions in 31 countries and opens an opportunity to develop democracy inside the parties.

Edmon Marukyan has presented the viewpoint of the Yelq Faction and has noted that the recommendation of the Committee on electoral Legislation Reforms adjunct to the RA Prime Minister is the same: to pass into 100% proportional electoral system.

During the debate the Factions did not reach an agreement and the electoral model acceptable for everybody was not chosen.

The representatives of the RA NA Tsarkuyan Faction Naira Zohrabyan and Sergey Bagratyan have the same viewpoint on the recommendation by the ARF Faction.

As a result of debate the Head of the ARF Faction Armen Rustamyan urged his colleagues to study the experience of other countries and got convinced that their presented model is one of the best. He proposed them to pass into semi-open and semi-closed proportional electoral system.

The next sitting of the Working Group will be held on July 24 at 12:00.

The representative of the RA NA ARF Faction will preside over the sitting. The RA NA deputy Khosrov Harutyunyan will be invited: it is designed to debate his proposal on holding pre-electoral disputes.
