RA President of the National Assembly extended his condolences to Vatican where it says:

“With deep sorrow we were informed about the death of Pope John Paul II. In Armenia we still remember his historical visit in 2001 in the days of celebrating 1700^th anniversary of Christianity. During his 26 years of papacy Pope John Paul II was the preacher and champion of true values, faith and tolerance of Christianity. His activity was marked by the facts that were unprecedented in the history of Christianity. The whole life of Pope John Paul II was an example of serving to the faith and church. In Armenia the people will never forget that he was the first shepherd of Catholic Church who recognized and condemned Armenian Genocide of 1915.

We are sure that in the history of Catholic Church the work of Pope John Paul II will have its deserved continuation on behalf of the high-ranking cardinal whom the conclave will choose as the spiritual shepherd of catholic world. ”
