National Assembly Convenes Extraordinary Sitting

By the decision of the RA NA Speaker Ararat Mirzoyan, on the initiative of the RA Government and the Article of the RA Constitution and the Article 41 of the RA Constitutional Law the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly an extraordinary sitting of the parliament was convened immediately after March 26 regular sittings of the National Assembly.

The National Assembly by voting passed the draft decision on the Special Procedure of the Debate of the Agenda Item of the Extraordinary Sitting of the RA National Assembly, by which the debate of the agenda item in the second reading would be organized after its adoption within 24 hours.

The legislative package on Amending the RA Constitutional Law the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly and on Making Amendments and Addenda to the RA Constitutional Law on Constitutional Court. According to the RA Minister of Justice Artak Zeynalyan, the adoption of the package of the draft laws is conditioned by making the decision of the Constitutional Court (CC).

The Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs Vladimir Vardanyan has noted that the goal of the initiative is the specification of the constitutional terms fixed in the CC decision and the provision of some technical rectifications.

In his speech the RA NA Speaker Ararat Mirzoyan has reminded the deputies that the problem is only the observation of the CC decision-making: to establish the provisions of the Article 141 of the law the NA Rules of Procedure by the law on the Constitutional Court.

Vladimir Vardanyan and Artak Zeynalyan presented clarifications on some observations voiced by the deputies.

As a result of voting, the parliament passed the debated legislative package in the first reading by the votes 117 for.

The National Assembly will continue the work of the extraordinary sitting on March 29, at 11:00.
