On April 8, within the framework of the 140th Session works of the Inter-Parliamentary Union the President of the National Assembly Ararat Mirzoyan met with the President of the Chamber of Representatives of Belgium Siegfried Bracke.

In the course of the meeting the sides discussed the political changes happened in Armenia. The President of the National Assembly has presented to his colleague the developments occurred in Armenia, which are aimed at strengthening the democracy, the protection of human rights and guaranteeing the rule of law. Ararat Mirzoyan noted that the extraordinary parliamentary elections held in December 2018 enjoyed the highest assessment of the international observation missions.

The interlocutors also touched upon the transitional justice agenda being designed in Armenia.

Welcoming the democratic changes occurred in Armenia Siegfried Bracke expressed the support of the Belgian parliamentarians.

The sides agreed to organize programmes of exchange of experience for the staffs in the future to strengthen the institutional ties between the two countries and the exchange of experience.

Ararat Mirzoyan greatly highlighted the ratification of the RA-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement by the legislator of Belgium. The President of the Chamber of Representatives expressed readiness to promote the ratification of the Agreement in the short terms.
