On May 15, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security Andranik Kocharyan and the Deputy Head of the Geneva Center for Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF) Antje Fritz signed a Memorandum of Understanding. Its goal is to increase the effectiveness of the democratic control of the defense, national security, police, and civil emergency management in the Republic of Armenia. The Memorandum emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in defense and security sectors, the need for building professional capacity, as well as the need for improving the necessary tools for effective parliamentary oversight and control. Both parties approved the two-year Action Plan.
