On June 10, on the initiative of the RA National Assembly Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration parliamentary hearing on the theme the RA Chairmanship Year in EEU: Challenges and Opportunities in RA Legislative Body was held. About 130 representatives from the government, the diplomatic corps, the concerned institutions, the NGOs, as well as the members of the Eurasian Experts' Club and the Scientific-Expertise Council adjunct of the NA Standing Committee. The Chancellors of the higher institutional institutions and representatives of the academic circles took part in the hearing.
The Chair of the Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration Mikayel Melkumyan has opined that the membership to the EEU is the development direction for Armenia, but not in expense of other directions. According to him, by now the united markets have not been established, there are formation agreements, but that process can take place in quick rates. The MP also touched upon the works to be done with energy united market.
The Committee Chair talked about the importance of the investments and financial united markets, considering necessary the reforms of the legislation.
Touching upon the logistic problems Mikayel Melkumyan expressed his opinion that we should effectively use the ways of the system and provide in this issue the awareness and integration of the business circles.
Recording that the hamronization of the laws in the EEU countries goes on slowly the Committee Chair has considered the idea of forming the EEU Parliamentary Assembly, and our country has to initiate that process, in relation to which he addressed the RA Prime Minister and the NA Speaker.
The speaker also reflected upon the electronic customs clearance regimes, the technical rules of procedure and the problems of mental property.
The RA Minister of Foreign Affairs Zohrab Mnatsakanyan in his speech underlined that during the past years the EEU proved its establishment, and positive dynamics had been recorded in the main economic indices.
“The implementation of the relevant agreements with Iran and China, as well as the end of the negotiations with Singapore, Serbia, Egypt, Israel and India can be an additional impetus for the integration process of the EEU in the world history,” the Foreign Minister said.
Talking about the challenges of the Eurasian economic development, the RA Minister of Economy Tigran Khachatryan assured that in the EEU Chairmanship year in the economic aspect our country had essential achievements.
The Committee Deputy Chair Armen Pambukhchyan also considered necessary the effective use of the inter-parliamentary instrument.
The RA Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan has highlighted similar hearing, documenting that such initiatives direct while advancing the united interest.
The RF Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia Sergey Kopirkin, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China Tian Erlong, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan Timur Urazayev and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus Igor Nazaruk highly assessed the organization of the hearing on the debate of the EEU problems and the revelation of the potential in the legislative body.
In their speeches and interpeallations the RA NA deputies, the representatives of the government and those responsible for the sphere referred to the relations of Armenia with the member countries, the volumes of the goods turnover, the tendencies of the export growth, the possibilities of the entrepreneurship boosting, the geographical position and peculiarities of Armenia in the context of building relations with the member countries of the structure. The idea of creating Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the EEU countries, the advancement of the national distinct agenda in presentation of the priorities of our country, the organization of the multilateral business-forums in the context of the expansion of the inter-regional cooperation and the development of the cooperation. The effective use of the scientific-educational potential of the member countries and steps taken for boosting the newest technologies was especially underlined.
In his final speech Mikayel Melkumyan thanked the attendees for the concerned debates, noting that similar meetings would be continuous.
