On August 28, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Health Care and Social Affairs Narek Zeynalyan met with the representatives of the medical institutions and a number of public organizations to discuss the worrying high indices of the artificial interruptions conditioned especially by gender.

Narek Zeynalyan voiced the report on Armenia presented by the UN Population Fund. The specialists talked about the dissemination of the phenomenon and noted that a number of analyses were made and the reasons were studied. The rise of the reproductive health index was also considered important.

The attendees considered necessary to raise the woman’s role in the society, elaborate mechanisms and direct means from the state budget, trying to prevent the artificial interruptions conditioned by gender.

At the end of the discussion Narek Zeynalyan urged those present to submit to the Committee proposals on the solution of the issue to work out in the near future common policy and if necessary, make amendments in the legislative field.
