On January 29, the RA NA Standing Committee on Health Care and Social Affairs with the concerned parties organized a working discussion on the topic The Problems of Organization of Birth Assistance in the Republic of Armenia.
The participants of the discussion touched upon the stopping of state financing of a number of the RA Marz medical institutions by the decision of the RA Ministry of Health, as a consequence of which a series of Marz maternity hospitals would be shut down.
The RA Deputy Minister of Health Artyom Smbatyan presented the substantiations being as a basis for the decision.
The directors of the Marz medical institutions taking part in the discussion were displeased with the decision of the Ministry.
The Ministry expressed readiness for discussing the item of finding job in other medical institutions for other doctors.
The Committee Chairman Narek Zeynalyan noted that as a result of discussion, it was found out that the item was not sufficiently discussed with the representatives of municipalities and medical institutions. He also considered problematic the fact that the item had not been discussed during budgetary discussions.
In the near future the Committee will wrap up the results of the discussion, will make a relevant conclusion and submit to the Government.
