"In accordance with Article 20.1 of the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Armenia on the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly, by the request of at least one fourth of the total number of the deputies, an Investigative Committee of the National Assembly was established by validity of law in order to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus (COVID 19), to have effective measures carried out by the Government and the Commandant’s Office of the Republic of Armenia for mitigating or eliminating the consequences of the fight against that virus, as well as to study the efficiency and the legality of the restrictions of the human rights and fundamental freedoms during the period of the state of emergency.
In accordance with Article 20.6 of the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Armenia on the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly, the draft decision of the National Assembly establishing the number of the members of the Investigative Committee will be debated at the first regular sitting of the National Assembly in September 2020,” the statement of the NA Speaker Ararart Mirzoyan reads.
