Bill Aimed at Protection of Children’s Rights Discussed
1 / 6

At September 7 sitting of the RA NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Social Affairs, the draft law on Making Addenda to the Law on Child’s Rights presented by the RA Government was discussed.

The RA Deputy Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan informed about the proposals on making addenda to the draft law.

In response to the MPs’ questions, the Deputy Minister has noted that in case, when the child and the child’s legal representative refuse the psychopathic aid and hospitalization, then in that case, the court makes a decision, being acquainted with the conclusion of the Medical Professional Commission. In case of having doubts, the court is authorized to require double medical examination, to listen to the child and the child’s legal representative, and after that make a decision.

The Deputy Minister has clarified that the goal of these amendments is the elimination of the provisions contradicting the RA Constitution. The legislative initiative was endorsed, and it will be included in the draft agenda of the RA NA upcoming regular sittings.

After passing the draft law, the law will enter into force after three months of the official issuance.

The discussion of two other legislative initiatives included in the agenda of the sitting was postponed by the authors’ proposal up to two months.
