Item of Election of Candidate for Court of Cassation Judge Debated
1 / 5

At March 24 sitting, the parliament debated the item of the election of the Court of Cassation judge.

Pursuant to Article 143.6 of the RA Constitutional Law the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly, the two candidates, Arsen Mkrtchyan and Armen Haykyants, who received more votes at the first phase will take part in the second phase.

The candidates made speeches.

Armen Haykyants . I will not make a speech on a programme orientation, as the candidates for the judge of the Court of Cassation have already presented it in the first phase. In the framework of the legislative opportunity to make a speech again, I will make some remarks on certain manifestations of the election procedure and the separate legal relations regulating it.

Arsen Mkrtchyan. We presented our reports and viewpoints in the first phase. I have not made a new speech, considering the fact that in the first phase there were no such issues on the basis of which it was possible to manifest a new approach.

The Chair of the NA Accounting Committee Vahagn Hovakimyan informed that the election will be hold during 11.30 from 12.30.

The judge of the Court of Cassation is elected by secret ballot, by at least three fifth of the votes of the deputies’ total number.
