The draft law on Making Addendum to the RA Law on Military Service and Serviceman’s Status authored by the Bright Armenia Faction proposes providing deferment once by the decision of the RA Government to those who have not finished studying with secondary professional programme, or being in the graduation year and the citizens subject to conscription of military service until the education ending day including, but not more than turning 20. At March 24 NA sitting, the key rapporteur Anna Kostanyan has presented that besides the citizens studying with general and preliminary programme also an opportunity will be given to them to continue and end their education after turning 19.
The co-rapporteur Kristine Poghosyan highlighted the fact of the rise of the educational censorship in the army and informed that it had been debated at the Standing Committee on Defense and Security and endorsed.
As the MP Armen Khachatryan has observed, it is more expedient to give an opportunity to the students studying in the graduation year of the preliminary educational institutions to end their education and then be conscripted.
The parliament also debated in the second reading the draft law on Making Addenda to the RA Law on Electronic Communication.
