On October 8 a reception took place in the National Assembly on the occasion of the Teacher’s day. Welcoming the teachers from Yerevan and marzes, NA Speaker Artur Baghdasaryan noted that it has already become a good tradition to have teachers’ reception in the National Assembly on the occasion of their day. Artur Baghdasaryan congratulated the teachers’ professional holiday, thanked for the devotion of educationg the Armenian children and wished creative success. Mr. Baghdasaryan ensured that not everything is in material values, and especially, the moral encouragement is important. He highlighted the teachers’ visit to the legislative power of the country, informing that this year increase of the teachers’ salary is envisaged by state budget. According to NA Speaker, guarantees will be created for the rise of the teachers’ legal and social protection.

The Parliament Speaker handed grateful diplomas and cash bonuses to 28 teachers of Yervan and marzes for their effective pedagogical activity.

The teachers thanked remembering the well-know truth: “The country, where the teacher’s work is evaluated, will blossom.” The questions concerning them were various: there are no methodological manuals in the comprehensive schools, the children’s physical conditioning is low, what’s the NA Speaker’s opinion about the 12-year education, organization of the concentrated final examinations, state inspection, etc.

NA Speaker informed that by the state budget of this year a sum is envisaged for obtaining laboratories, there is a state programme of repairing physical training halls. The Parliament Speaker noted that a law on Higher Education and Post-Graduate Education has been passed: from now on the students with excellent results shall study free of charge. Mr. Baghdasaryan recorded that this is a positive reform. It was noted that from the next year the entrance exams will be canceled, by which the corruption system will be put to an end. As the Parliament Speaker assured the rights of the schools and the responsibility get increased. Mr. Baghdasaryan observed the competitiveness in the educational sphere as the most important impetus of the development of the system. He said that the educational sphere in RA is in neglected situation, there is no control, considering as a consequence the sale of 503 kindergartens during 14 years. NA Speaker added in favour to those actions that a law has been adopted by which the sale of the institutions fulfilling educational activity is banned. Mr. Baghdasaryan noted that the 12-year education will contribute to the increase of jobs in the country. They also talked about school construction, organization of children’s rest, visiting historical places, etc.
