At May 26 sitting, the legislative package on Making Amendments and Addenda to the Law on Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic (Psychoactive) Substances, on Making Addenda to the Law on Licensing and on Making Amendments and Addenda to the Law on State Duty was debated in the first reading.

Introducing the proposed regulations, the RA Deputy Minister of Economy Tigran Gabrielyan has noted that it is proposed to allow the production, export, import or wholesale trade of industrial hemp by law in case of having a relevant license, to define the peculiarities of licensing and the obligatory requirements. It has been clarified what the production of industrial hemp means, the peculiarities of licensing were envisaged, clearly regulating the necessary criteria for getting a license. The quota requirement for the activities subject to licensing and the legal regulations for the control over the activities of the licenses have been set.

Presenting the endorsement of the NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs, Hayk Tsirunyan has stated that the issue will be debated in detail, and amendments will be made from the first to the second reading.

The package of draft laws on Making Amendments and Addenda to the Law on Organization of Funerals and Operation of Cemeteries and Crematoriums and the presented enclosed ones authored by the deputies Nikolay Baghdasaryan, Sergey Movsisyan, Viktor Yengibaryan and Hovhannes Hovhannisyan was debated in the second reading. Particularly technical amendments were made in the first to the second reading.

The draft law on Amending the Law on Temporary Disability and Maternity Benefits authored by the MPs Gevorg Papoyan and Heriknaz Tigranyan was debated in the second reading. The necessity of adopting the draft presented by Gevorg Papoyan is important from the viewpoint of the employees’ rights and the defense of interests. The deputies did not present proposals during the period from the first to the second reading, and the two proposals of the Government were accepted by the authors.

The draft law on Making Amendments and Addenda to the Law on Foreigners and the package of the enclosed ones was debated in the second reading.
