On June 4, the parliament convened the NA extraordinary sitting. The draft law on Making Addenda to the RA law on General Education authored by the deputy Mkhitar Hayrapetyan and the item of the election of the candidate for the member of the Corruption Prevention Committee were on the agenda.
Presenting the main regulations, Mkhitar Hayrapetyan has noted that having basic education is a mandatory demand for working as a teacher in the general educational institution.
Hayrapetyan has clarified that the situation is especially controversial on natural sciences professions: in 2020-2021 there was nobody choosing profession physics with pedagogical specialization in any higher educational institution. According to him, there is a problem in the high mountainous and border regions in the city communities, and there is necessity of investment for flexible regulations conditioned by it.
Highlighting the regulations of the initiative, Sofia Hovsepyan in her co-speech the member of the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport has underlined that the problem of appointing a specialist and taking part in the competition exists in the whole republic. To Hovsepyan’s conviction, an attempt has been made to settle the problem with short-term programmes, but there is need for long-term solution.
The parliament passed the bill in the first reading.
