The Chairwoman of the Belgian Senate in National Assembly

On October 31 the delegation headed by the Chairwoman of the Senate of the Belgian Kingdom Ann-Marie Lizin met Armen Roustamyan, Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations in the parliament.

Welcoming the guests, Mr. Roustamyan expressed conviction that Ann Marie-Lizin’s visit will be a new impetus for the development of the Armenian-Belgian relations, activation of the inter-parliamentary relations. It was noted that choosing the European road of development, our country tries to integrate into Europe with fast rates, and all the organizations, to which Armenia joins, seriously promote that process. It was also noted that in the National Assembly the main part of the legislative initiatives refer to the Euro-Integration process. They highlighted the participation of Armenia in all the initiatives of the European Union taking place in the region. Touching upon the process of the constitutional reforms, Mr. Roustamyan expressed his conviction that the positive result of the referendum will create big possibilities for our country to continue the reforms and fully perform them.

During the meeting both sides highlighted the development of multi-lateral relations, inter-parliamentary ties, regional cooperation, as well as Armenia-Belgium partnership in the European structures in different directions. They also discussed other issues of mutual interest.

The delegation headed by the Chairwoman of the Senate of the Belgian Kingdom Ann-Marie Lizin met in the National Assembly with Armenia-Belgium parliamentary friendship group.

MP Hrayr Karapetyan, member of the group familiarized the guests with the law-making activity of the National Assembly, the steps made by our country with the aim of Euro-Integration, expressing a hope that the cooperation of the parliaments of Armenia and Belgium and exchange of experience will promote the implementation of the adopted policy of our country.

Mrs. Lizin, the Chairwoman of the Belgian Senate, informed that soon Belgium will become a presiding country in OSCE, and she ensured that they will do all the best that the process of Euro-Integration of Armenia gets activated.

At the guests’ request MP Mnatsakan Petrosyan presented the legislative works done in the social and health care spheres.

Both sides highlighted the exchange of experience between two countries through the active contacts of the committees and friendship groups.
