At June 4 extraordinary sitting, the Parliament debated the issue on the election of the candidate for the member of the Corruption Prevention Commission. Based on the decision of the Competition Council, Tatevik Barseghyan was nominated for the vacant position for the member of the Corruption Prevention Commission.
The NA deputy and the member of the Competition Council Heriknaz Tigranyan presented the candidate’s biographical data and professional skills.
The nominated candidate Tatevik Barseghyan has assured that she will apply her knowledge, experience and connections to overcome the existing problems in the anti-corruption sphere. She noted that the Commission did an extensive work during her activity, implementing the functions set by the RA Laws. Barseghyan, presenting the data, has stated that Armenia has 47 points according to the 2020 Corruption Perception Index of the Transparency International organization which is the best result ever recorded. This was possible to record in the conditions of the catastrophic war and the pandemic. The candidate is sure that our country is able to record much more tangible results in reducing and preventing the corruption.
“In case of being elected, I will spare no effort to achieve the aim. I will act impartially, unbiased, responsibly, in accordance with the criteria of political neutrality, transparency and accountability,” Tatevik Barseghyan said.
She highlighted the cooperation with the public organizations, international organizations and certain experts. In order to succeed in the fight against corruption, the candidate valued the anti-corruption education, awareness of officials, public servants and the public. Among the priorities the development and the adoption of the code of conduct of public servants, the input of practical application and control mechanism were highlighted.
