Right to Part-Time Working Regime to Be Designed for Parents of Children with Disabilities
1 / 3

At June 9 sitting of the RA NA Standing Committee on Health Care and Social Affairs moderated by Narek Zeynalyan, the draft law on Making Amendment and Addendum to the RA Labour Code authored by the Bright Armenia Faction was debated in the first reading. To Srbuhi Grigoryan’s word, the care of the children with disabilities becomes more problematic, when the parents work in full-time regime designed by Labour Code. 8812 children with disabilities are numbered in the RA, 1700 out of their parents are registered at work. According to the speaker, the care of the children woth disabiolities supposes investment of not only material means, but also providing time, which in case of working with the parents’ full schedule is hard to implement. The issue of being from work of the parents taking care of the children with disabilities, in case of present legal regulations is completely at the employer’s discretion, and there is need of legislative regulation. It is proposed to make relevant addendum to the RA Labour Code, according to which, right to part-time job or part-time week regime is designed for the parents of children with disabilities. The executive body endorsed the draft law.

The revised draft law was endorsed.
