The Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration was set up in the framework of the National Assembly of Armenia of the seventh convocation in the year of the Chairmanship of our country in the EEU.
The main spheres of the Committee activity are: the connections with other countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) and the region and the harmonisaation with the legislation of the EEU other states.
By the Committee decision, the Sub-Committee on Cooperation with the marzes of the EEU member states, as well as Scientific-Expertise Council.
During the two and a half years of the activity the Committee convened 27 sittings. Conclusions to the National Assembly Council were debated and presented on 24 draft laws.
The Committee convened three visiting sittings.
The Committee organized working debates with those responsible for the state government sphere, the representatives of the concerned departments and diplomatic corps. The current state to the EEU integration and the main directions of the efficiency rise, the problems of the harmonisation of the competitive environment, the united financial, energy market formation were touched upon.
The current problems of Meghri free economic zone and the regional development, the situation created around the economic zone and the issues on the opportunities of its further operation have always been at the centre of the Committee’s attention.
The Committee implemented parliamentary hearings on the theme the RA Chairmanship Year in the EEU: Challenges and Opportunities.
In 2020, with the initiative of the UNDP Modern Parliament for a Modern Armenia in the framework of the designed technical support expertise analyses were made.
The Committee signed cooperation referenda with the Committee on the Committee for CIS Affairs, Eurasian integration and relations with compatriots of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the Organization the Republican Union of Employers of Armenia and the Armenian State University of Economics.
