On June 28, the online Meeting of the Education, Communication and Cultural Affairs Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of LA Francophonie, where the member of the RA NA Delegation to AFP, the deputy of My Step Faction Sona Ghazaryan.

The item 12 of the Committee agenda dedicated to the elimination of Artsakh cultural heritage. The expert on preservation of cultural heritage, researcher of Saint-Louis University of Brussels Marie-Sophie de Clippele gave a speech on the theme, who presented the whole conventional framework concerning the preservation of the cultural heritage.

Then, according to the preliminary agreement, the member of the RA NA delegation Sona Ghazaryan. She touched upon the endangered historical-cultural heritage of Artsakh as a consequence of large scale war with the immediate support of Turkey on 27 September 2020 and unleashed by Azerbaijan with the participation of the terrorist groups.

The Armenian parliamentarian especially underlined the fact of being deliberately targeted of the cultural values during the war, giving as an example the twice rocket firing during one day Shushi Saint All-Saviour Church. She noted that during the post-war period the destruction of the religious and cultural monuments of Artsakh continued, and one of the manifestations is the distortion of their exterior and the elimination of the Armenian trace by Azerbaijan, and its goal is the realization of the Armenian historical, cultural and religious and heritage of Artsakh. Sona Ghazaryan has informed the Committee members that Azerbaijan deliberately bans the entry of the UNESCO experts and other specialists to Armenian endangered cultural monuments of Artsakh.

The member of the RA NA delegation to AFP called on the international authorized bodies to undertake all necessary measures for preventing the final destruction of the Armenian cultural heritage of Artsakh.

The Chairman of the AFP of the Education, Communication and Cultural Affairs Committee, the member of Swiss Council of States Christian L evrat informed at the end of his speech that a draft resolution on preservation of the historical-cultural heritage of Artsakh will be presented at the APF Plenary Meeting.
