On October 14, the RA NA President Alen Simonyan received the representatives of the partner organizations of the Project Strengthening Electoral Processes and Political Accountability (SEPPA): the Director of the International Republican Institute (IRI) for Armenia James De Witt, the Electoral Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) Country Director for Armenia Jérôme Leyraud and the Head for the National Democracy Institute (NDI) in Armenia Laura Nichols.
The RA NA President Alen Simonyan highlighted the efforts of the partner organizations aimed at supporting the democratic processes and the effective implementation of the cooperation programs with the National Assembly of Armenia. The Head of Parliament underlined the necessity of the favourable and continuous cooperation with the international partners.
The main discussion was held over the activities of the SEPPA since 2018, the goals and the peculiarities of the program were presented. It is a seven-year being financed by the U.S. Agency for International Development and implemented by the Consortium for Elections and Political Process Strengthening. Cooperating with the government, parliament, political parties and the stakeholders of the civil society of Armenia, the program helps to boost the integrity of the elections. The format of cooperation concretely with parliament was touched upon. The goal of the cooperation with parliament is to support and develop the RA NA capacities to strengthen the efficiency of the activities of the legislative body and the MPs.
