During the parliamentary briefings held on October 29, the member of the NA Civil Contract Faction Andranik Kocharyan, touching upon the question of Russia draws out the Minks Group Co-Chairs and tries to solve the problem alone, has opined that it cannot be like that. “The Minsk Group has not been formed at somebody’s wish. It has been formed a few years ago in relation to the concrete problem. Today that problem exists, and the Minsk Group functions. Regarding the participation of Russia in our security problems, then don’t forget that the ceasefire regime is based on the tripartite document, where Russia has weighty process,” Andranik Kocharyan underlined.

The deputy of the Faction Artur Hovhannisyan spoke about the news that as if regulations restricting the freedom of speech are accepted, including the law on the mass media activity. The MP considered groundless the accusations on oppressing the media and the freedom of speech.

To the MP’s conviction, we deal with the artificial noise, which people involved with the indecent media raise. “We explain in detail the logic of the changes – why are they made. We deal with the legal process on that theme applying to the Constitutional Court by the Human Rights Defender. We shall wait for the end of the process,” he said.

To Artur Hovhannisyan’s assessment, the freedom of speech, the protection of the journalists’ rights are the most important indicators of our country’s democracy. He has added that today the democracy in our country needs protection, as we also deal with the revanchist forces, which put under blow the democratic institutes.
