On November 15, at Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concerts Complex the Head of the RA NA Armenia-Ukraine Friendship Group Hrachya Hakobyan and the members of the Group took part in the Working Conference dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Union of Ukrainian Armenians (UUA).
In his welcoming remarks Hrachya Hakobyan expressed conviction that the Conference would give new breath to the Armenian-Ukrainian relations. The MP has highlighted the role of the Armenian community in the life of Ukraine, noting that it is one of the active and organized communities.
Speaking about the work of the UUA, Hrachya Hakobyan has noted that the activity of the Union includes the cultural, sports, educational spheres, the programmes directed to the preservation of the language and cultural traditions. According to him, Armenia and Ukraine have opportunities of cooperation in a number of directions. As Head of Friendship Group, the MP expressed readiness to support in deepening the constructive cooperation and the implementation of the projects aimed at the two countries’ interests.
The member of the RA NA Armenia-Ukraine Friendship Group Gurgen Arsenyan highly appreciated the activity of the Union of Ukrainian Armenians. To the MP’s assessment, it is not accidental that the Armenian community is one of the actives in the public-political life of Ukraine - the Armenian and the Ukrainian peoples’ relations have historical basis.
In their speeches the Chairman of the Union of Ukrainian Armenians Vilen Shatvoryan, His Eminence Nathan Archbishop Hovhannisyan, the Ambassador of Armenia to Ukraine Vladimir Karapetyan, the Acting Ambassador of Ukraine to the RA Viktor Gonchar, the Member of the Group on the Inter-Parliamentary Relations of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine with the Republic of Armenia Darya Volodina underlined the importance of the Armenian-Ukrainian friendly relations and the role of the Armenian community. The UUA is a Pan-Ukrainian organization on which activity basis is to assist the pro-Armenian initiatives.
Hrachya Hakobyan was awarded for having an active role in boosting the Armenian-Ukrainian relations. The Head of the Group on the Inter-Parliamentary Relations of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Artem Dmytruk and the Member of the Group Daria Volodina were also among those being awarded.
