On November 19, the RA NA Vice President Hakob Arshakyan attended the Silicon Mountains 2021 Tech Armenia Summit organized by the Union of Employers of Information and Communication at Yerevan Mesrop Mashtots Matenadaran.

The special guest of the Summit was the President and Co-Chief Executive Officer of Synopsys Dr. Chi-Foon Chan, who became laureate of Global IT Award 2020 RA State Prize for his world contribution to the sphere of information technologies.

The RA NA Vice President Hakob Arshakyan gave a welcome speech at the Summit. He congratulated Dr. Chi-Foon Chan for receiving such high award, noting that it was a great honor for Armenia to receive well-known people of the technological sphere, who had their influence on the development of the world technological development.

Speaking about the development of the sphere, the NA Deputy Speaker noted that after the previous Summit the newly formed hundreds of companies received state tax privileges: “We have a company founded in Armenia and operating with more than 1 billion USD capital,” as an important achievement, Hakob Arshakyan has underlined and added that such companies are considered to be the motivating force of our country’s development.

“The number of engineers in Armenia exceeds 20.000, which is promising for recording large-scale growth in the sphere in the next years,” Hakob Arshakyan said. In terms of the sphere development, the NA Vice President stressed the importance of the state care, the state programs supporting the companies beginning their business and the steps to be taken in the development of the technological education.

“We have a problem of the involvement of average and high level, experienced professionals in Armenia. All our companies affirm this challenge,” the Deputy Speaker of Parliament stressed. In this respect he has informed that the amendments passed in the law on Foreigners and in other laws facilitate the process of ensuring right to live and to work for the foreign specialists in Armenia. From January 2022 the employers and specialists can apply and receive right to live and to work through online platform.

During the Summit the RA Minister of High Tech Industry Vahagn Khachaturyan and the President and Co-Chief Executive Officer of Synopsys Dr. Chi-Foon Chan also delivered speeches. The perspectives of the use for the smart solutions and digital economy, the directions of the modern technology development, the need of digital technologies in business sphere and the challenges of digital economy.
