Eduard Aghajanyan Receives Ambassador of Estonia to RA

On December 15, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Eduard Aghajanyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Estonia to the Republic of Armenia Riina Kaljurand (Residence in Tbilisi). The Head of Armenia-Estonia Friendship Group Anush Begloian, as well as the Desk Officer Peeter Pals took part in the meeting.

Welcoming the Ambassador Eduard Aghajanyan has noted that warm and friendly relations exist between the two countries, and in terms of their expansion, the inter-parliamentary relations, particularly the close work of the Parliamentary Friendship Groups are important.

As Head of Armenia-Estonia Friendship Group Anush Begloian highlighted the issues of activation of contacts between the legislators and in the near future, the formation of the working agenda.

The Committee Chair presented the post-war situation and the current challenges in the region. Eduard Aghajanyan touched upon the provocations carried out by Azerbaijan and the violations of the provisions stipulated by the trilateral statement.

The Armenian parliamentarians have noted that the most important agenda item continues remaining the return of Armenian prisoners of war and the captives to the Motherland. Eduard Aghajanyan evaluated the distinct position of the Friendship Group with Armenia of Parliament of Estonia in the issue of the return of prisoners of war.

Speaking about the RA-EU cooperation, the Head of Armenia-Estonia Friendship Group Anush Begloian emphasized the support of Estonia in the effective and full implementation of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement.

The Ambassador underlined the necessity of deepening the inter-parliamentary relations, the activation of mutual visits, as well as the development of cooperation in a number of spheres.

The parties referred to the importance of the security issues and the establishment of long-term peace in the region.

The interlocutors also discussed the opportunities of expanding the Armenian-Estonian cooperation, particularly, the cooperation and works to be done within the framework of a number of structures and organizations.
