Law on Representative of Republic of Armenia to European Court of Human Rights is Improved
1 / 1

At December 16 NA extraordinary sitting, the parliament debated in the first reading the draft law on Making Amendments and Addenda to the Law on Representative of the Republic of Armenia to the European Court of Human Rights with the enclosed legislative package.

The RA Representative to the European Court of Human Rights Yeghishe Kirakosyan has informed that the amendments are aimed at bringing both the title of the law and the subject of its regulation into line with the activities actually carried out by the Representative today. It is proposed to include the representation of the interests of the Republic of Armenia and other items in the International Court of Justice in the list of authorities exercised by the Representative too. In particular, it is suggested to supplement Article 1 of the law with the following content Part 2 – “For the purpose of this law, the Representative’s activities include the European Court of Human Rights, the International Court of Justice, the International Arbitration, conciliation and the foreign courts.”

It is expected that the adoption of the amendments will promote the improvement and clarification of the existing legislative regulations, will contribute to the steady fulfillment of the international obligations of the Republic of Armenia and to the increase of the rating of our country on international platforms.
