On December 22, the RA NA Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration, moderated by Armen Gevorgyan, debated the draft law on Making Addenda to the Law on Hydrometeorological Activities authored by the Government.

According to the key rapporteur, the RA Deputy Minister of Environment Gayane Gabrielyan, the proposed addenda are conditioned by the necessity to fulfill the requirement of the No. 4 decision of the EEU Supreme Eurasian Economic Council of May 29, 2019 and to authorize the authorized body to maintain and to register the state register of physical and legal entities rendering services in the field of meteorology and weather forecasting. The adoption of the draft will ensure the harmonization of the law with the EEU legal regulations contributing to the effective implementation of the common policy and international obligations in the field of meteorological services.

Gayane Gabrielyan answered to the questions related to the register maintenance and standards of functions.

The Acting Director of the Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center SNCO Levon Azizyan presented his observations on the register maintenance. He has informed that at this moment, there are 46 meteorological stations in Armenia. According to him, our country is singled out with its physical-geographical diversity, and it is necessary to expand the network of meteorological observations.
