On December 23, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs Taguhi Tovmasyan met with the representatives of the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of the RA Prime Minister’s Staff for introducing the Expert of iGorts program Tereza Davtyan by the Committee.
The Chair of the Standing Committee underlined the importance of cooperation with the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs.
“iGorts program contributes the strengthening of Armenia-Diaspora ties and the repatriation of the Diaspora Armenians,” Taguhi Tovmasyan said. The NA deputy also presented the upcoming works of the Committee.
The Representative of the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs Hermine Harutyunyan has noted that the Activity of the Government is aimed at the support in the targeted use of the Diaspora potential, self-organization and the national identity and the integration of the Diaspora Armenians in our country. She also informed that as a result of the purposeful implementation of iGorts program about 30 Diaspora Armenians made a decision to remain in the Motherland. Part of them has already passed to work in state and other structures.
Hermine Harutyunyan stressed the necessity of cooperation with the legislative body.
The Expert Tereza Davtyan noted that investing the experience and knowledge, she would promote the implementation of iGorts program.
During the meeting other issues of Armenia-Diaspora cooperation were also referred to.
