Highlighting the fight against the gambling in Armenia, the Government makes amendments to the Law on Advertising, proposing to allow any type of advertising of internet gambling games and totalizators in limited places.
The initiative was debated in the first reading at January 20 NA sitting.
According to the key rapporteur, the RA Deputy Minister of Finance Armen Hayrapetyan, advertising will be allowed only in the 4-star and higher hotels, in the border checkpoints and in the front part of the buildings carrying out similar activities.
The initiative was endorsed in the RA NA Standing (Head) Committee on Economic Affairs. The Committee member Tsovinar Vardanyan voiced about this. She has noted that the fight against gambling is a priority for their political team, and the draft is aimed at serving that agenda. According to the deputy, about 1.9 trillion bets were made during 2020, and that number increased 1.5 times in 2021.
In their speeches, the deputies highlighted the implementing programs, presented their observations related to the draft.
As the RA Deputy Minister of Finance Armen Hayrapetyan has informed, the amendments being made to the Law on Procurements authored by the Government, aimed at providing an opportunity for an operative response to the problems emerged as a result of emergency situations and which are considered urgent as much as possible, have also been debated in the first reading.
The deputies debated in the second reading the package of bills on Making Amendments and Addenda to the Law on Procurements and the enclosed ones authored by the Government.
