Committee Endorses Draft Laws Aimed at the Improvement of Educational Sphere

At February 7 regular sitting, the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport in the second reading debated and endorsed the draft law on Amending the law on Education, which authored the deputy of the Civil Contract Faction Sisak Gabrielyan. It is designed that the state should provide the learners from the first to the fourth classes of the educational institutions implementing elementary general educational programme with the textbooks of the elementary general educational programme at the expense of the state budget means.

It was noted that after passing the draft law in the first reading it had not undergone any changes. It will be included in the draft agenda of the NA upcoming sittings.

The Committee has debated in the second reading and has endorsed also the draft law on Making Amendments and Addenda on General Education authored by the Government, which envisages making a number of amendments in the sphere of general education. The bill has repeatedly been debated with the concerned specialists, and parliamentary hearings have also been held.

According to the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan, after passing it in the first reading the deputies presented proposals on the draft law, and the majority out of them had been completely or partially accepted. Numerous provisions of the draft law have been revised and specified.
