At the NA regular sitting convened on February 8, the package of draft laws on Making Amendments and Addenda to the Constitutional Law on RA Judicial Code and on Making Addenda to the RA Criminal Procedure Code authored by the NA deputies Vladimir Vardanyan and Vahagn Hovakimyan was debated in the second reading.
According to the key rapporteur Vladimir Vardanyan, a number of amendments were made in the first to the second reading. In particular, criteria related to the jurisdiction of court sittings in case of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) as a court have been clarified, as well as the number of the votes which is necessary for making relevant decisions.
The purpose of the amendments and addenda proposed by the package of drafts is to ensure the effective implementation of judicial review of cases, proper exercise of the rights and legal interests of their participants, ensuring the demand to review and resolve cases within a reasonable time and strengthening institutional guarantees for normal operation of courts.
Artur Davtyan presented the endorsement of the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs.
The RA Deputy Minister of Justice Grigor Minasyan presented the positive viewpoint of the Government. The Deputy Minister noted that the authors accepted the proposals of the executive body.
