The RA Deputy Minister of Finance Armen Hayrapetyan submitted the revised draft law on Making Amendments and Addenda to the Law on Advertising to the NA Standing Committee for debate in the second reading.
“Today, the scale is to protect from the risk of gambling by restricting advertising,” the Minister of Finance clarified.
The purpose of the draft law is to combat gambling, as gambling has recently reached large proportions. In this context, the Deputy Chair of the Committee Babken Tunyan informed that, in addition to advertising, the representatives of the legislative and executive bodies currently discuss other mechanisms too, aimed at regulating the field. “I am sure that we will have something to say and do in coming weeks. Steps will be taken not only to prevent, but also to reduce gambling, make it as difficult as possible, reduce access,” he said.
Before the voting, it was mentioned that the restrictive provisions of the law will also apply to lotteries.
With the endorsement of the Committee, the draft law will be included in the draft agenda of the regular sittings of the National Assembly to be convened on March 1.
