There will not be admission to the Armenian State University of Economics (ASUE) Yeghegnadzor Branch for 2022-2023. The decision was made by the Scientific Board of the University at October 11, 2021 sitting.

A working discussion was held on March 10 at the Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs on the problems caused as a consequence of suspending the admission to the ASUE Yeghegnadzor Branch for 2022-2023 and the possible versions of restoring the admission to the higher educational institution.

Deputies, representatives from Vayots Dzor Regional Municipality, Yeghegnadzor community, lecturers of the ASUE, former and present students took part in the discussion.

Speaking about the fact of suspending the admission to the ASUE Yeghegnadzor Branch for 2022-2023, Taguhi Tovmasyan has noted that closing any educational institution has a bad consequence in the region for the residents.

The Founder of the higher educational institution, the first Director Edgar Ghazaryan noted that the Branch was created, stemming from the regional proportional development, the logics of the education accessibility.

90% of more than 400 graduates of the ASUE Yeghegnadzor Branch has already permanent job. Edgar Ghazaryan proposed to take steps, particularly, to work out development programme, which would promote ensuring the continuity of the Branch of the higher educational institution in the marz/region.

The Vice Rector of the Armenian State University of Economics states that by the decision made by the Scientific Board of the University no student’s interest was violated. He presented statistical data, underlining that about 72% of the available bachelor plan vacancies were not replenished.

The MPs, the representatives of the Regional Municipality, the students, the graduates and the lecturers of the higher educational institution in their speeches proposed to look for a systemized solution of the issue. The existence of the educational institutions’ branches in the marzes was highlighted.

Summing up the discussion, Taguhi Tovmasyan suggested the stakeholder to present the recovery realistic programme of the ASUE Branch and to try settling the problem.
