There is No Discussion Related to Signing Document at Closed Meeting; Ishkhan Saghatelyan
1 / 3

On March 24, the briefings following the NA regular sittings were held, where the NA Vice President Ishkhan Saghatelyan took part from the Armenia Faction and answered to the journalists’ questions.

Summing up the work of the NA regular sittings, the Deputy Speaker touched upon the draft laws authored by the opposition not included and not passed.

Ishkhan Saghatelyan also informed that the issue on holding urgent debate on the theme of public interest the Humanitarian Situation created in the Artsakh Republic, the threats and the Urgent Work to be Done was debated in the closed format.

The speaker also reminded about other initiatives by the opposition rejected by the parliamentary majority.

“The proposal of creating Standing Committee on Artsakh in the NA made by the opposition, giving a reason that there is an Inter-Parliamentary Committee, which has a higher status, and there is no need to set up one more Standing Committee on Artsakh. As a result, that Inter-Parliamentary Committee has not held any sitting during the passing 8 months,” he underlined.

According to the Vice President of National Assembly, the main reason of the opposition clash is the contradiction of the ideas about tomorrow of Armenia.

The journalists inquired from Ishkhan Saghatelyan about the details of debate held in the closed format.

“The closed meetings are for not speaking on open platforms. But related to concrete document there was no debate, nothing has been spoken about that,” Saghatelyan noted.
