Information Database to Be Formed About Stolen Vehicles
1 / 3

Favorable conditions will be created to reduce the cases of using the stolen vehicles for terrorist, criminal and other illegal acts. The RA Deputy Head of Police Ara Fidanyan informed about it at the sitting of the NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security on April 4 while debating the issue on Ratification of the Protocol on Making Amendments to the Agreement on Cooperation between the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States in Combating Vehicle Thefts and Ensuring their Return.

In order to prevent vehicle thefts, to track down and return them, each side will ensure the formation and maintenance of the database on vehicles.

This database should also include information on unregistered vehicles crossing the state border.

The proposed amendments will activate the cooperation between the competent bodies. In case of the detection, arrest, confiscation or seizure of a stolen vehicle in the territory of one of the sides, the competent body of the other side will be notified.

The amendments also set the requirements for requesting information from the databases, as well as the bases for refusing to provide information based on the request.

It should be noted that the protocol was signed between the Governments of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia and Tajikistan.

In his co-report, the member of the Committee Armen Khachatryan highlighted the adoption of the legislative proposal.

The draft law was endorsed.
