Any Solution of Artsakh Issue That Should Lead to Armenians Being Evicted from Artsakh Cannot Be Acceptable for the Republic of Armenia: Eduard Aghajanyan
1 / 5

There is no process behind the back of the Artsakh Armenians and there cannot be. And it is natural that the most important beneficiary of this process is the people of Artsakh itself: the deputy of the Civil Contract Faction Eduard Aghajanyan said during the April 15 parliamentary briefing, touching upon the stamen made by the Parliament of Artsakh on April 14.

Regarding the statement, Eduard Aghajanyan said that perhaps their colleagues in Artsakh did not understand well the content of the RA Prime Minister’s speech.

“The freedoms of the Armenians of Artsakh, rights, the security guarantees have always been important for the Republic of Armenia, and the status should stem from those guarantees and the international consolidation around it,” the deputy of the Civil Contract Faction Vahagn Aleksanyan noted.

In response to the journalist’s question, the deputies of Artsakh claim that being part of Azerbaijan is unacceptable, Eduard Aghajanyan noted that there was formulation of Artsakh being part of Azerbaijan or out of it in the RA Prime Minister’s speech.

“Any solution, as a result of which the Artsakh people would agree to continue living in Artsakh, I think should be acceptable for everybody, first of all, for the people of Artsakh. The condition is that if it is acceptable for the people of Artsakh, I suppose that it is acceptable for the RA citizens and Armenia. It is about the conditions, as a result of which all the rights of the Artsakh Armenians would be guaranteed, and the people of Artsakh would not like to leave Artsakh. Otherwise the solution which will be proposed, naturally, will neither be in accordance with the interests of the Republic of Armenia nor the Artsakh people. Any solution of the Artsakh issue that should lead to Armenians being evicted from Artsakh cannot be acceptable for the Republic of Armenia,” Aghajanyan said.

Referring to the journalist’s question of lowering the bar in the issue of the NK status, the NA deputy clarified: “We have 30 years of negotiating experience during which we’ve had a certain bar, and conditioned by that during these 30 years the Republic of Armenia has in fact been in a diplomatic isolation, the consequences of which I believe we all see, and we also saw during and after the 44-day war. I think it is time to draw conclusion from our mistakes and move forward with realistic reasons,” Eduard Aghajanyan said.

According to him, conditioned by those realistic motivations and reasons, the RA authorities consider important to be on the same level, on the same line in this issue with the international community. The NA deputy deemed this as an extremely important condition, in order to resolve the issue in a more favourable way.
