The Government has proposed to make amendments and addendum to the Law on Temporary Disability and Maternity Benefits, the adoption of which is conditioned by the regulation of certain issues arisen in practice.
It is proposed not to link the calculation of working days for sickness benefit and the extension of the period of temporary disability to the definition of a disability group or the revision of the group, as there are possible cases when a person is disabled and regardless of the fact that the person continues to remain disabled, nevertheless, the sick leave is not extended after being declared disabled.
The term “person with a disability” was clarified in accordance with the current legal norms of the draft law.
The RA Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Davit Khachatryan submitted proposals on the amendments of the terms.
The law will enter into force on the day following its official publication. In this regard, the executive body proposed to add the words “except for Article 1.3 of this law, which will enter into force on February 1, 2023” after the word “on the day.”
The member of the Standing Committee on Labor and Social Affairs Lilit Stepanyan noted that no substantive changes were made after the first reading.
The Committee members endorsed the bill.
The issue was debated at the sitting of the NA Standing Committee on Labor and Social Affairs on April 26.
