It is Designed to Lighten the Load of Anti-Corruption Committee
1 / 1

The Anti-Corruption Committee works overloaded, which cannot but reflect on the quality of the case examination: the Deputy Minister of Justice Arpine Sargsyan at May 17 sitting of the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs.

The draft law on Making Amendments and Addenda to the RA Criminal Procedure Code authored by the Government being debated in the first reading was revised for lightening the load of the cases existing in the Anti-Corruption Committee and for decently and with quality implementing the pre-examination of the corruption alleged crimes through making them manageable. “In fact, the corruption crimes committed by the officials will be left to the Anti-Corruption Committee, and the private cases will be transferred to other bodies, particularly, the Investigation Committee,” the Deputy Minister said.

It was noted that the proposing amendments refer to the Code in force. The new Code will enter into force from the coming July 1.

The draft was endorsed by the Committee. It will be debated in the NA upcoming regular sittings: the debate in the second reading will be held after passing it in the first reading, within 24 hours.

At the sitting the legislative package on Making Amendments and Addenda to the RA Civil Code and on Making Addenda and Amendments to the Law on State Registration of the Rights Towards the Property authored by the deputies Babken Tunyan, Narek Zeynalyan, Lusine Badalyan and Hayk Tsirunyan was debated in the second reading and endorsed.

It was noted that it will enable the people to sign a contract of purchase right in case of getting an apartment from the apartment buildings (as by the legislation in force), but also in the residential houses.

The debate of the draft law on Making Amendments and Addenda to the Constitutional Law the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly authored by the Government was postponed up to two months.
