CTR Member Candidate Presents Problems Facing Media Field and Commission

In accordance with Article 145 of the constitutional law the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly, the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport proposed the National Assembly Tigran Hakobyan’s candidacy nominated by the Civil Contract Faction in the position for a member of the Commission on Television and Radio (CTR).

The issue of the election for a member of the Commission on Television and Radio was debated at September 15 RA NA sitting.

The representative of the Civil Contract Faction Sisak Gabrielyan presented the candidate’s biography and work experience.

Tigran Hakobyan thanked the faction for nominating his candidacy, presenting his vision on the CTR activities. He touched upon problems facing the CTR. In particular, he spoke about the legislation regulating the media, the need of the change of the webcast legal regulations, the reinterpretation of the public multiplex whole system, the linguistic and information security.

As Tigran Hakobyan observed, according to the monitoring of the last two days, the public multiplex balanced and right functions.

Tdeputy Rustam Bakoyan tasied the issue of the broadcasting programmes. in mother language of the national minorities. Tigran Hakobyan noted that the problem exists, and there is need for jointly working. He highlighted the need of the Armenian programmes on national minorities.

In his final speech the candidate expressed regret that the deputies of the opposition factions did not take part in the discussion, underling that what is debated is above party, and relates to the information interests of the state. Tigran Hakobyan wished everybody peaceful, normal life in order to be able to seriously engaged with the information, media-regulating problems.
