The Government proposes amendments and addenda to the law on Academy of Justice conditioned by the necessity of having representatives of the Anti-Corruption and Investigative Committees in the Management Board of the Academy of Justice.

On September 28, the issue was debated in the first reading at the sitting of the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs. The RA Deputy Minister of Justice Arpine Sargsyan presented the initiative.

It is proposed to make the number of the Board members from 13 to 7. Three autonomous positions from both Anti-Corruption Committee and the Investigative Committee will be included in the Board.

“A number of decisions are made within the framework of the Management Board. It is important for us to have equal participation and the representation of all beneficiaries in the Management Board. Accordingly, it is proposed to have three representatives from all beneficiaries by the principle of equal approach,” the Deputy Minister underlined.

It is also proposed by the initiative that besides the Prosecutor General, the Chairmen of the Anti-Corruption and Investigative Committees can convene Board sittings, too.

Technical amendments were also made.

According to the co-reporter, the Committee Chair Vladimir Vardanyan, the amendments stem from the criminal-judicial reforms. The MP presented his observations on the draft, which were adopted by the author.

The revised draft was endorsed.
