According to Legislative Initiative, Duty on Imported Cement to Be Set 2000 AMD, and Duty on Imported Clinker to Be Eliminated

“Taking into account the current situation in the cement market, as a result of the discussion with the colleagues of the Ministry of Economy, it was decided to set the duty on the imported cement not 9000 AMD for per ton , instead of the previous 14.000 AMD, but 2000 AMD, and the duty on imported clinker will be eliminated,” the Deputy Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs Babken Tunyan noted at the extraordinary sitting of the NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs on October 3.

The draft law on Amending the RA Law on State Duty authored by the NA deputies Babken Tunyan and Hovik Aghazaryan was debated in the second reading and endorsed. It is aimed at protecting the local production of cement, as well as ensu ring an equal competitive field for imported and locally produced products .

According to the key rapporteur Babken Tunyan, the date of entry into force of the law was also changed. It will come into force from the day following publication.

The co-rapporteur, the Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan also referred to the problems of the cement market. He informed that cement is sold at a cheaper price in the neighboring countries. He assured that the Ministry of Economy is moving forward, taking into account the balanced interest.

The Government presented editorial amendments after the first reading, which were endorsed.
