‘Highland Settlement’ Notion to Be Established by Law
1 / 3

By this moment, the workers residing in the highland settlements, as a surcharge to the established salary, receive 8000 AMD. Later, if there is need for review, then this authorizing norm will give that opportunity. The Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Ruben Sargsyan said about this.

The parliament debated in the first reading the draft law on Making Addenda to the RA Labor Code at October 4 regular sitting.

As the Deputy Minister has informed, the draft provides the authorizing norm of the Government decision of 2015 establishing surcharge to the employees of the budgetary institutions for working in the highland settlements not being a state and local self-government body.

Besides the authorizing norm, the draft proposes also to establish the ‘highland settlement’ notion. In this case they are the settlements being 2000 metre and higher from the sea level. The RA Government will establish their list.

The Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Labor and Social Affairs Heriknaz Tigranyan informed that rise of the salary by the draft or amendment is not established. “What is established by the decision of the Government, we reserve its legal bases in the law,” she clarified.

The Committee endorsed the draft.
