On October 19, the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Alen Simonyan visited the Chamber of Culture and Sport of Armenian Deaf Society at the request of the leadership and the beneficiaries of the NGO Armenian Deaf Society.

At the meeting the Chairperson of the Society Marine Harutyunyan presented to the NA President some problems demanding legislative regulation on the community of hearing-impaired and deaf and dumb, and as a result of rectification the communication of the hearing-impaired will become easier. At the core of the presented issues were the rise of the state care level and the creation of the equal starting conditions in the issue of professional orientation of the young deaf and dumb people. The members of the Society also indicated the importance of the training of the sign language interpreters and the asked for support on creating favourable conditions for it.

Alen Simonyan took a tour in the building accompanied by the leadership of the Society and got acquainted with the conditions. The NA President gave assignments to his Staff for solving the presented problems.

At the end of the meeting the NA President informed the beneficiaries of the Union that in the near future it is planned to broadcast the NA sittings with the help of sign language interpreters.

According to latest data, 3000 people with hearing problems live in Armenia.
