Today, in our audiovisual media there are names, which are like and connected with the names of the casinos, bookmakers, gambling functioning before. On November 15, at the RA NA regular sitting the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs Gevorg Papoyan said about this, presenting the package of the draft laws on Making Addendum to the law on Audiovisual Media and Amending the law on Advertisement. He added that there is concern that that tendency can be continued.

Thus, by the legislative amendment it will be impossible to have audiovisual media, its names or trademarks will be identical or be similar to the degree of confusion with the names of the brands being engaged with gambling or internet gambling or lottery activity during the last five years or companies. The legal relations, which regulate the advertisement broadcasting with audiovisual media will also be specified, will be complied with operating audiovisual media legislation, as well as the modern international regulations.

Answering the question of the NA deputy Hovik Aghazaryan’s question pertaining to the youth gambling addiction, Gevorg Papoyan noted that though in legal aspect the issue is regulated, understanding the context of the issue the Committee Chair underlined that by removing the non-cash bets already another regulation in force, in fact, the problem becomes controllable.

The member of the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport Hasmik Hakobyan presented the endorsement of the Committee.

The RA Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry Avet Poghosyan presented the positive opinion of the Government.
