The delegation led by the RA NA President Alen Simonyan took part in the joint meeting of the Council and the 15th Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO PA).

In his speech the RA NA Vice President Hakob Arshakyan touched upon the draft of assignments on the improvement of the legislation in the sphere of the electoral processes and protection of sovereignty, which was presented for debate by the decision of the CSTO PA Permanent Commission on Political Affairs and International Cooperation.

“In the context of the threats of increasing external intervention to the elections and referenda in the CSTO PA Member States, the coordination modernity of the actions of the CSTO PA Member States,” the NA Vice President noted.

The gap existing in the functioning system of the CIS and the CSTO model acts is filled in by the draft of the assignments. The draft formulates the concept of the foreign intervention and electoral sovereignty in the elections and referenda, contains analysis of the international legal field of the electoral processes and protection of sovereignty and defines the goals and the problems. The main measures being proposed for the electoral processes and protection of sovereignty, including in the context of the legislative activity are also prescribed in the draft.

According to Hakob Arshakyan, the conceptual provisions of the draft fully correspond to the true realities, they are systemized and substantiated, the document has passed all the procedures of examination set by the Assembly. He added that the adoption of the draft will allow condolidated developing the legal practice of the CSTO Member States, taking into consideration the proposing comprehensive component of the electoral processes and protection of sovereignty.

Hakob Arshakyan proposed to support the draft decision on the draft of the assignments presented to the decision of the CSTO PA Permanent Commission on Political Affairs and International Cooperation, as well as on the plenary meeting on this issue.
