Executive Body Proposes Amendment to RA Law on State Property Privatisation Programme for 2017-2020

Necessity emerged to amend the RA Law on State Property Privatisation Programme for 2017-2020, removing the CJSC Centre of Radioisotope Production from the list of the companies being proposed for privatization, leaving it completely with state participation to improve the quality of the oncological services, as well as to develop nuclear medicine. The RA Deputy Minister of Health Armen Nazaryan said about this at January 16 NA sitting.

According to the rapporteur, the Centre was created in 2010, but began its activities from June 2020. The structure makes radioisotope production and positron-emitting tomographic radionuclide researches applying them through the use of the generating radiation sources by the company.

β€œAt present, the company is the only one with its main functions in the sphere of the RA health, and with the production functions – the only one in the region,” the Deputy Minister. It was noted that the company continues its further programme development, as well as to develop the sphere of the nuclear physics closely cooperates with the A. Alikhanyan National Scientific Laboratory.

According to Armen Nazaryan, the Centre also cooperates with CJSC A. Fanarjyan Oncological National Centre of the Ministry of Health being the leading one of the oncological sphere in Armenia.

Answering to the question of the NA Vice President Hakob Arshakyan, the representative of the Government noted that there was no interest on the privatization of the organization for many years. It was noted that from the day of its creation today, the organization has 4 government loans, and its repayment will begin from 2023.

The Deputy Chair of the NA Standing (Head) Committee on Health Care Lusine Badalyan presented the endorsement. Emphasizing the initiative, the deputy underlined: The medical institution rendering unique services should be under the state administration.”
