Parliament Continues Debate of Issue of Election as Chair of NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations

On February 9, the National Assembly continued the debate of the issue of the election as Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations. Let us note that the NA Civil Contract Faction nominated Sargis Khandanyan’s candidacy for being elected in that vacant position.

On behalf of the NA Armenia Faction Andranik Tevanyan gave a speech. He, particularly, touched upon the problem of closing the Lachin Corridor, the foreign policy being pursued by the authorities, criticizing it.

Hayk Konjoryan delivered a speech on behalf of the NA Civil Contract Faction. The Head of the Faction referred to the inner-political problems, the power-opposition relationships and the opposition colleagues’ speeches, criticizing their work style.

Let us note that after giving speeches on behalf of the Armenia Faction the deputies of the Faction left the hall.

Hayk Konjoryan informed that the Faction, highly appreciating Sargus Khandanyan’s capabilities and experience, will vote for his candidacy.

In his concluding speech Sargis Khandanyan thanked the Faction for nominating his candidacy, assuring them that in case of being elected he will be led by the principles of the protection of the state interests of Armenia, independence and sovereignty, will try to take initiative and be accountable for his activities.
