The members of the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs in one-minute silence standing honoured the memory of the victims of the massacres of the Armenian population organized at state level by the Azerbaijani authorities in the city of Sumgait of Azerbaijan. The crime took place during the period from February 27-29, 1988.

The Committee debated in the second reading the package of the draft laws on Making Addenda to the RA Criminal Procedure Code and on Making Amendments and Addenda to the law on Prosecutor’s Office. A number of gaps and non-complete regulations existing in the RA legislation are added by the adoption of the drafts, and its goal is the rise of the activity efficiency of the RA Prosecutor’s Office.

The frameworks of the powers of the head and the members of the Prosecutors’ Group will be distinctly demarcated by the adoption of the drafts.

The RA Deputy Minister of Justice Levon Balyan informed that part of proposals presented by the deputies was accepted.

The sitting of the Committee was held on February 27.
