Tigran Abrahamyan: Implementation of accumulations does not yet mean preparation of military operations
1 / 3

I want us to clearly understand that movements and accumulations should be thoroughly studied in order to understand what danger they pose to Armenia or Artsakh. Only implementation of movements does not mean preparing for military actions. From a deep analysis of the dimension and directions of the movements, it will be possible to understand what the aim is in reality: the Secretary of With Honor Faction Tigran Abrahamyan said during the parliamentary briefings following the NA sittings on March 23.

In this context, the deputy noted that the violation of the ceasefire regime has increased, especially in the direction of Artsakh contact line. According to him, the violations of the ceasefire regime in Artsakh are expressed by firing at civilians: with this, Azerbaijan tries to hinder the implementation of agricultural works, which creates problems from the viewpoint of food security.

The MP informed that the most prominent incident in the last two days was the enemy’s shooting in the direction of Yeraskh yesterday, as a result of which we have a casualty.

Tigran Abrahamyan also touched upon the firing by Azerbaijan towards the Russian servicemen. In his opinion, it was purposeful, because the Azerbaijani side was aware that Russian peacekeepers were approaching the scene of crime.

The Secretary of the Faction mentioned that the possibility of the resumption of military operations on the front line at this moment can be conditioned by the situation created in the negotiation process, in particular, with the approach announced by the Armenian authorities that Azerbaijan has recently backed away from the agreements reached and proposed such conditions in case of which there is no longer an opportunity to negotiate.

Referring to the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s statement that Azerbaijan and Armenia may soon reach peace agreements, Tigran Abrahamyan mentioned that the only reason for signing a peace document in the near future would be if Armenia completely renounces its ability to resist, that is, agree to all the expansionist approaches presented by Azerbaijan. The opposition MP also did not rule out that there may be pressure on Armenia from the superpowers to sign the Peace Treaty soon.

To the journalist’s question, what will be the reaction of the Russian side regarding the shooting at them, the MP said: “The Russian side, both in Armenia and Artsakh, is trying to sound these signals through non-public channels. Both the Russian troops and the EU civilian observation mission deployed in Syunik clearly create certain obstacles for Azerbaijan. Azerbaijani aggressiveness is manifested not only in Armenia, but also in Artsakh. After the 44-day war, when Russian peacekeepers were deployed in Artsakh, they were manifested at that stage as well. Starting with the Azerbaijani invasions in the direction of Parukh and Karaglukh, and ending with the situation around Berdzor last year, Azerbaijan established control over various heights and at that time, in addition to bilateral casualties, it was also accompanied by various incidents with Russian peacekeepers. This is not a new manifestation,” the deputy said.
